Professional Bio
MAJ Stephen P. Magyar was born in Youngstown, Ohio and raised in Canfield, Ohio. In 2011, MAJ Magyar joined the OSU ROTC program and enlisted in the OHARNG under the simultaneous membership program. He received his commission in 2014 as a 2LT in Field Artillery. He was assigned as a Platoon Leader (PL) in B/1-134th FA RGT. MAJ Magyar completed his assignment as a PL in December 2015 and served as a FDO in B/1-134th FA RGT through January 2017. He cross-leveled to A/2-174th ADA RGT and deployed in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He served as a BTRY XO for a CRAM Task Force at Al-Assad Airbase, Iraq. Following deployment in July 2018, he was reassigned to DET 2 HHB/ 1-134th FA RGT as the Bn FSO attached to HHC/ 2-107 Cavalry RGT in Hamilton, OH through August 2020. Concurrently, he was placed as the OIC of Mid-Ohio Foodbank in support of OHNG response to COVID-19 from March to July 2020. In August 2020, he assumed the role of CMO for HHC/ 37th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (IBCT) and completed a Joint Readiness Training Center Rotation in July 2021. His primary duties were planning of all BDE Non-Lethal Effects. In November 2021, MAJ Magyar assumed command of HHB/ 2-174th ADA BN and concurrently served as a J1 Operations officer, OHARNG from December 2021 through March 2022. In April 2022, MAJ Magyar was reassigned to B/ 2-174 ADA BN serving as the BTRY CDR. He mobilized in support of Operation European Assure, Deter and Reinforce in May 2022 providing deterrence and early warning for Host Nation's of Latvia and Lithuania, U.S troops and NATO coalition allies. After returning home in March 2023, MAJ Magyar continued to serve as B/ 2-174th ADA commander until March 2024 and concurrently as a G1 Mobilization Division Special Projects officer, OHARNG. He mobilized in October 2024 with Task Force Brutus in support of the National Capitol Region-IADS JADOC as a Tactical Director.
