Sebastian Chavez

Sergeant First Class Chavez’ first assignment with the Air Defense Artillery was In November 2016, where he was assigned to 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, Fort Bliss, Texas. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Battery 5-52 Air Defense Artillery as Platoon Sergeant and Advanced Culinary NCO. He deployed to Qatar in December 2017 in support of OPERATION SPARTAN SHIELD as the Crew Three Warfare Battle Captain/NCOIC. Working outside of his MOS, SFC Chavez displayed expertise in Air Defense earning Q1 qualification on his crew's CCV, and later trained and certified two new Battle NCOs upon arrival into theater resulting in both crews certifying ADGT Table VIII and passing their OREs. He created training curriculum to hone the skills of the TCS crews while acting as the Senior BN Battle NCO. SFC Chavez refined and assisted in the creation of the WARFARE BN’s Battle Drills as well the CCIRs, FFIRs and PIRs and acted as a primary trainer for two of the 1-43 ADA BN TOC Crews, which prepared the unit to deploy. In January 2024, SFC Chavez began his tour with 38th Air Defense Artillery Brigade and serves as the Senior Culinary Manager in the BDE S-4. SFC Chavez led the S-4 team at BALIKATAN FY24 as the lead Support Operations NCO. He oversaw the contracts for base life-support and transportation for the BDE and subordinate units as they trained alongside the AFP. For the last nine months SFC Chavez has served as the Contracting Officer Representative for 14th Missile Defense Battery’s dining facility, Platoon Sergeant, HAZMAT Inspector and S-4 Operations NCOIC.

SFC Chavez was awarded the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara on October 4, 2024.
