James Gomez

Staff Sergeant James Gomez enlisted in the United States Army on July 26, 2016, as a Cannon Crewmember (13B) and completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. His first duty station was at Joint Base Lewis-McChord with Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment, where he advanced from Number 2 Cannoneer to Gunner and deployed to Pacific Pathways Rotation in February 2019. In September 2019, he was assigned to Alpha Battery, 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team at Fort Campbell, KY, serving in roles from Chief of Section to Gunnery Sergeant. In 2022, SSG Gomez transitioned to 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade, where he reclassified as an Air and Missile Defense Crewmember (14P). In 2023, he deployed to Syria under Operation Inherent Resolve as a Squad Leader in Charlie Battery. Upon his return, excelled as a Platoon Sergeant in Charlie Battery from September 2023 to October 2024. Currently, he serves as a Senior Missile Handler with Headquarters Battalion, 2-44th ADA.
