The Ancient Order
The more distinguished of the two levels of the Military Society of Saint Barbara. It recognizes the select few who stand above their brethren of the Honorable Order. The specific criteria for accession into the Ancient Order is to have performed conspicuous, long-term service for or on behalf of the United States Army Air Defense Artillery. The Ancient Order is reserved for an elite few whose careers have embodied the spirit, dignity and sense of sacrifice and commitment
epitomized by Saint Barbara. Membership in the Honorable Order is a prerequisite for membership in the Ancient Order.
**The approving authority for all awards of the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara is the Commanding General of the Fires Center of Excellence at Fort Sill. The Commanding General may approve or disapprove the nomination to the Ancient Order as he deems appropriate.

Award Packet Procedures for Honorable Order of Saint Barbara and Molly Pitcher
2. Completion of the Award Order Form to include:
-Signatures (nominating authority, approving authority*, card holder signature for payment)
-POC Information
-ADAA Membership numbers
-Ceremony dates
-Total cost
-Payment information
* If you do not have an Ancient recipient in your chain of command to sign as the approving authority please attach a memo to the nomination packet indicating:
-The reason for not having an approving authority
-Stating the commander approves the request
-Listing the names of the nominees
-Signed by the commander
3. A short bio and a 2-3 paragraph write up, to include:
*Any and all significant contributions your nominee has made to the Air Defense Artillery branch and your unit
*Dates that support your nominee’s requirements listed in the Award SOP (i.e. command timeframe 5 May 2015- 5 May 2016, platoon sergeant timeframe, Detachment Sergeant timeframe…)
*Officers nominations need to include their DA 1059
4. Submit your completed packet to adaassoc@hotmail.com

Between October and January:
No later than 8 weeks prior to event
The rest of the year
CONUS: No later than 6 weeks prior to event
OCONUS: No later than 8 weeks prior to event
Award Packet Procedures for Ancient Order of Saint Barbara
1. All nominees must first be Honorable Order of St. Barbara recipients. And current members of the United States Air Defense Artillery Association.
2. Nominations for the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara MUST be made by a member of the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara.
The Nominating Authority for the Ancient Order of Saint Barbara is the first ADA Colonel (06) in the chain of command. If no ADA Colonel exists in the chain, authority reverts to the first ADABrigadier General (07) in the chain of command
3. Completion of the award order form to include:
-Signature (approving authority, card holder signature for payment)
-POC Information
-ADAA membership numbers
-Ceremony dates
-Total cost-
-Payment information
4. A detailed memorandum
This memorandum is a synopsis of the nominee’s military and educational career, highlighting major contributions to the branch. It should contain sufficient detail about the candidate.
*dates that support your nominee’s requirements listed in the award SOP (i.e.Brigade command timeline, Brigade Command Sergeant Major timeline….)
5. If approved, the Commandant will forward to the CG for his review and approval. If disapproved at either level, we will make contact with you.
